We feature two indulgent food experiences each day at Cliffside. In the morning, our multi-course, gourmet breakfast, and in the afternoon, our internationally acclaimed afternoon tea service -- named one of the 20 best afternoon teas in America (see below). Both are complimentary, available to guests only.

BREAKFAST  Enjoy a refined seasonal menu with multiple entreé choices plus breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, granola, fresh baked muffins and breads. Our classic signature dish is Eggs Newport, a seaside gastronomic twist on breakfast classic Eggs Benedict, with crab cakes, roasted red peppers and seasonal aiolis replacing the English muffin, Canadian bacon, and Hollandaise sauce.

Our new classic signature dish similarly transforms the ordinary breakfast sandwich into the extraordinary. The Legendary Breakfast Sandwich features an over-sized Wolferman's English muffin grilled with American cheese, eggs any style, and choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. Other seasonal choices include stuffed French Toast; fluffy buttermilk pancakes; yogurt parfaits with berries and granola, and fresh fruit crepes.

Our all organic Legendary Coffee is roasted and blended exclusively for us daily by nearby neighbor Custom House Coffee -- Rhode Island's top artisinal coffee roaster. The Legendary Blend is a medium-dark, sustainably-grown, all-organic Latin American combination of mountain shade-grown Colombian and Peruvian beans. There are rich, smooth notes of chocolate, caramel, and lemon. Mimosas for two are also available.

Enjoy breakfast fireside in our grand Victorian parlor or weather permitting, on the veranda or outdoor garden tables. Newspapers are available each morning in the parlor. Breakfast is served 8 - 10 am.

AFTERNOON TEA  "Fit for the Queen of England," is how Fortune Magazine described our Legendary Newport Tea Service. Tea authority and writer Bruce Richardson named Cliffside one of the 20 best tea rooms in America in his book "The Great Tea Rooms of America."

Regal without being stuffy, you will enjoy an epicurean delight you won't soon forget. Silver and porcelain tiers hold an array of sweets and savories that change daily, from classic to contemporary. Tea sandwiches might include salmon and capers, egg and cavier, pesto with tomato and mozzarella, cucumber and radish, cranberry and pear chutney, or crab with lemon zest. Sweets include artisan chocolates, cookies, cupcakes, pies, fruit tarts and cakes. Plus, we always feature fresh scones with Devonshire Cream, handmade English marmalades and fruit butter curds.

Guests choose a cup from our antique collection to enjoy our Legendary Newport Tea. Our premium tea is hand blended exclusively for us by America's preeminent master tea blenders, Harney and Sons. The connoisseur blend combines three of the world's finest single estate black teas to produce a truly elegant cup of tea. Add a glass of bubbly to enjoy a classic Champagne Tea.

Afternoon Tea is served from 4:30 - 5:30pm in the parlor. During warmer months, we serve iced teas as well, while guests relax on the veranda and at outdoor garden tables.
